MADONNA
The rich texture of this elegant design pays homage to the warps and the wefts that inspired the very first wallpapers—the silk brocade.
Originally, brocades were an ancient silk fabric emerging in China around 475–221 BC. But by the Middle Ages, the secrets behind silk production had escaped to Western Europe, and Italy was producing opulent and luxurious brocades worn by monarchs across the continent. Highly desired and sought after, it’s no wonder they appear as some of the earliest designs of wallpapers; a heritage and texture worthy of reinvention.
